Dear Members

Following a short poll, where two venues came out pretty much joint.

First we looked into the possibility of Stoneleigh in greater depth – stables, alternative parking, splitting age groups, charging different levies for whether you are on a surface or not – to find out that Stoneleigh have now taken a different booking and we are no longer able to use the site. Very frustrating.

We have now costed out the two remaining venues – Builth Wells and New Park.

Without stables:

Builth Wells £105 (+£42 per stable)
New Park £70

The above entry fee is per rider

The Committee have voted and the majority have opted for New Park as the venue for the 2019 Inter Counties. There were 2 reasons for this. Firstly, that Royal Welsh had a wet weather clause built into their agreement meaning that they could cancel if the weather is wet and, if we did go ahead, that they would charge us for ground repair. The second reason was the much lower cost of New Park compared to Builth Wells.

We know that neither option is the all-weather surface option we all want! But to run 80+ teams on all-weather is nigh on impossible as venues just don’t have 2 rings of the size required!

We also are fully aware that you can choose! It personally saddens me that we have two excellent competitions planned for the same weekend – but I cannot do anything about the timings.

MGAGB will be updating you ASAP with the entertainment planned, grandstands, showers, hookups and great catering – what we cannot do is run Inter Counties at a venue in the middle of the country that will accommodate everybody who wants to compete.

We will be allowed to travel early and leave late at the venue – to help with distance etc.

We will try our very best to offer you good value for money and an enjoyable family weekend .
