I am writing to thank everyone who made Intercounties 2017 such a success. First to Mary, (particularly for the excellent weather she organised), Rosie and Dave who all worked tirelessly both in the run up to the event and over the three days of competition. As ever they were the last to leave. Then to all the volunteers who gave their time – the referees and assistant referees, judges, commentators, writers, breathalysers, those who helped with marking the arenas, sorting the equipment and packing the trailers and last but not least the poo pickers! It’s a huge team effort and I think you should all be justifiably proud of what we achieved. There are far too many of you to mention individually and if I started naming names I know I would miss someone but there are numerous volunteers who go far above and beyond the rest and to those a very special thank you.
The competition was as fierce as ever. I judged many heats and several finals and at every level the ponies and riders invariably tried their hardest. The Open A Final was a fantastic spectacle and Leicester were very worthy champions.
I have had lots of positive feedback from members but I know there were some problem areas and the General Committee will be looking at those in our autumn meetings and seeing what we could do to iron out the wrinkles. Let me you’re your thoughts please. There was some bad behaviour but the Ground Jury has met with the members involved and the incidents have been dealt with appropriately.
So thank you all again. See you at End of Season
