STATEMENT REGARDING INTER COUNTIES AT NEWARK THIS WEEKEND
I have been in constant contact with Newark over the past 4 weeks regarding Inter Counties and spoke to the Chief Executive and Events Manager there yesterday. Both the Runway ring and the Horse Ring have been constantly watered over the past 4 weeks and are being done twice a day each day this week.Apparently they are the only 2 green areas on the showground!
Newark have put many man hours of work and thousands of litres of water into attempting to provide MGA, as valued customers (their words- not mine!) the best prepared ground that they can in these unprecedented drought conditions. They have promised me that they are doing all they can. I cannot say more than this.
As far as parking is concerned- there is a map showing the areas of the showground which we have been allotted for parking. This is on the MGAGB website. Please check it carefully and make sure that you park in the correct areas. Do not make corrals any larger than 5m x 5m. We have fewer teams coming to Inter Counties than we had for UK Masters and we have the use of the whole runway for parking which we did not have in May. Please note that the area by and in front of the cattle sheds is out of bounds for this competition.
If you park on the showground itself and not on the runway please make sure that you do not block others from accessing the areas behind and around you. Very often lorries are parked on the roadway and there is plenty of space left behind them going up to the fence which could be used but cannot be accessed as there is no room to get through!
PLEASE MAY I REQUEST THAT MEMBERS DO NOT CONTINUALLY CONTACT ROSIE WITH QUESTIONS ABOUT THE WATERING OF THE GROUND AND/OR PARKING. AS YOU CAN IMAGINE, SHE IS RUSHED OFF HER FEET AT THIS TIME.IF YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS YOU CAN ALWAYS RING ME.
